Vinyl Outsells CDs For The First Time Since 1986

When you purchase music, is it mp3? Is it CD? Or is it VINYL? Believe it or not, records actually outsold compact discs during the first 6 months of this year! The last time that happened was 1986.

CDs brought in $129.9 million and vinyl sold $232.1 mil. It’s gone full circle! People aren’t going to record stores often (thanks, COVID), but online sales have been huge this year. 802,000 pieces of vinyl were sold on Record Store Day alone.
