Tyler Boebert, the eldest son of Rep. Lauren Boebert, was charged with misdemeanor child abuse earlier this month, Denver Westword reported on Saturday, citing Windsor Police Department records.

Rep. Boebert, 38, downplayed the charge, claiming it stemmed from “a miscommunication on monitoring my young grandson that recently led to him getting out of our house” in a statement in which she referred to the situation was a "one-time incident" and that her grandson was not injured.

“I am confident this is a one-time incident that we have addressed as a family,” she said.

Tyler had previously faced legal issues when he flipped his father Jayson's SUV while driving, which resulted in his passenger suffering multiple concussions and severe lacerations in September 2022. The 20-year-old was ticketed for careless driving, which was eventually dropped to a "defective vehicle for headlights ticket," and resulted in a guilty plea.

Tyler also called the police on his father in January 2024 claiming he was assaulting him at their home, which resulted in Jayson Boebert's arrest. Police said Jayson "pushed Tyler to the ground and pushed his thumb into his mouth," a Garfield County arrest affidavit states.

Tyler was serving a 24-month probation for pleading guilty in relation to an incident of attempting to commit identity theft in October 2024. The 20-year-old faced 22 criminal charges, including five felonies for his role in the string of thefts, one of which gutted the finances of a 33-year-old woman who was saving up for brain surgery, according to her lawsuit obtained by the New York Post in March 2024.

Tyler was also reported to have made a sex tape with one of his female accomplices, which was distributed to another suspect in the theft ring, according to a separate lawsuit obtained by the New York Post. The 20-year-old is set to appear in Weld County Court for his latest charge on September 8.
