The Tampa Bay Lightning (44-26-6) fell to the Buffalo Sabres (33-36-6) 3-2 in the shootout on Saturday night. With the point, the Lightning have now clinched a spot in the NHL postseason.
Tampa Bay got goals form Brayden Point and Gage Goncalves in regulation of a game that would end tied 2-2. After a scoreless overtime period, the Sabres won in the third round of the shootout thanks to SO goals from Jack Quinn and Alex Tuch.
The Lightning now travel to New York where they will play the Rangers on Monday night. Puck drop on Monday is scheduled for 7:00 PM from New York.
