Florida's School Reopening Case Will Be Heard In Leon County

The Florida Education Association's lawsuit over the state requiring schools to reopen this month will be moved out of Miami-Dade into Leon County to receive a faster review. Miami-Dade Judge Spencer Eig says he's moving the case to the state capitol so it doesn't get bogged down in procedural issues. The state's largest teachers union is challenging the state order requiring schools to reopen this month saying it violates the state Constitution which guarantees Floridians the right to a "safe" and "secure" public education. The governor has already asked the judge to dismiss the case.
