Nearly 10,000 Students Struggling To Stay On Distance-Learning Next Month

When the new semester starts in Palm Beach County schools next month, at least 12,000 additional students will be in brick-and-mortar classrooms. That's according to a parent choice report released this week.

It amounts to an 18 percent increase over the current semester, but leaves thousands of struggling students on distance-learning.

The district had sent a notice to the parents of 21,800 students, urging them to send their children back to campus because they are at risk of failing.

Based on the numbers, just over 78,000 students will be engaged in learning from a physical classroom, out of the nearly 170,000 kids enrolled in county schools.
