Brush Fire Burning In South Miami-Dade County

Firefighters are hoping to make some progress today in their fight against mother nature in South Miami-Dade County.

Florida Forest Service's Kevin MacEwen says along with his firefighters, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue and Sheriff's Office, Florida Highway Patrol and F-DOT crews are also battling the marshy conditions.

"It is very dry... extremely dry... so, the equipment, some of the equipment that normally doesn't stand up is standing up, and we just have to work in tandem with our air resources to be effective," he adds.

The brush fire, burning just south of U.S. 1 and Card Sound Road, is believed to have sparked yesterday, and by this morning had grown to 350 acres with only 25% containment.
