Hernando County, FL - Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier and the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office announced that a grand jury has indicted Nathan Douglas Holmberg, 36, on 25 charges related to child sexual abuse.

The charges include seven counts of capital sexual battery on a child under 12. Prosecutors said they will seek the death penalty due to the severity of the alleged crimes.

Investigators said Holmberg allegedly recorded himself sexually abusing children as young as 3 years old. Authorities believe there are at least five or six additional victims, with potential charges pending in other counties.

The investigation began when a concerned individual found evidence of abuse on Holmberg’s cellphone and contacted law enforcement.

A search of his devices revealed approximately 650 photos and videos of child sexual abuse material, according to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office.

Officials confirmed that Holmberg previously faced a similar arrest in Jacksonville in 2012.

Investigators said the 2012 arrest affidavit closely matched the current allegations.

Holmberg allegedly gained access to victims through his roles as a babysitter, volunteer coach, and church counselor.

State Attorney Bill Gladson said Holmberg will remain in the Hernando County Jail without bond while awaiting trial.

Sheriff Al Nienhuis said crimes involving the sexual exploitation of children will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of Florida law.
