(Miami, FL) - The parents of 17-year-old Dominic Ferrell, who was fatally stabbed inside the Icon Brickell condominium a year ago, were back in Miami Dade court Wednesday seeking accountability. They filed a wrongful death lawsuit regarding the safety measures in place at the time of their son's murder.
Owner Marriott entered a protective order objecting to the video release arguing guests and residents had an expectation of privacy.
Judge Barbara Areces over-ruled the objection finding no privacy issue and ordered the footage be provided in 10-days but did limit the disclosure of the footage to this case only.
Plaintiff's attorney Thomas Hastey says he wants to use the footage to track the killer's movement during the hours he spent in the hotel and the actions of the security team.
Hastey telling the judge per a deposition, "A week after the murder a detective entered the hotel a week after the murder and was able to walk around unincumbered for 45 minutes." So, he has concerns about the security plan and wants to make sure "this doesn't happen again."
Suspect, 26-year-old Kyrill R. Kehl, who entered Ferrell's condo and killed him on in June of 2025, fell to his death at a construction site after the murder.
