Martin County's sheriff had already called it the 'worst animal hoarding case' he's ever seen and now it's even larger.
77-year-old Gail Giustino was arrested last month after detectives found 92 animals, mostly cats, living in hot and deplorable conditions in cages at her home.
Those pets were taken to the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast, where the number has grown to 108 animals. Officials say friends of Giustino's have been dropping them off, saying the suspect had been bringing the animals to them.
Sheriff John Budensiek says the U.S. Postal Service worker had been picking up the cats while on her delivery route.
But it was soon determined that many of them were not ferrel, as they were micro-chipped.
Workers and volunteers at the Humane Society in Palm City are working on getting medical clearance for the animals and putting them up for adoption.
