Forecast Track For Tropical Storm Isaias Shifts East, Florida Still In Cone

Tropical Storm Isaias formed Wednesday night and as of the 5 a.m. update from the National Hurricane Center, is about 160 miles Southeast of Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic. It has maximum sustained winds of 60 miles per hour and is moving northwest at 21 miles per hour.

The official forecast track has shifted to the east twice since Wednesday and while most of Florida remains in the cone of uncertainty, the center of the system could be to the east of South Florida on Saturday, as a tropical storm, with 65 to 70 mile per hour winds.

It's also likely that more changes will be made to the forecast path between now and then, so officials urge residents to continue monitoring the storm and have their preparations in order.
